Mithi River not Marked by MMRDA in its Map

“How will MMRDA develop Mumbai," asks architect and environmentalist, Nandan Mungekar, "when it doesn’t have a development plan for the Mithi river?”

The reason for his outburst? The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority which is responsible for planning the city's development, has forgotten to mark the Mithi river in a map that's a part of its 1990-2011 plan for the city.

Little wonder that the government and BMC were caught napping on terrible Tuesday. They didn't expect a non-existent river to flood Mumbai.
