The New York Magazine asked ask 61 professional critics (and some other writers) to pick the underrated book of the past ten years hoping to unearth a buried genius. It was felt there would be a consensus and a clear winner was expected—one novelist did emerge victorious—garnering a grand total two votes.
The NY-Mag exercise reminded me of a few memes that were a rage in the Indian Blogosphere some many months back:
